Centre Sportsman archery buck ...8 pointer !

This is the last week of archery season and the bucks are on the move. I wait all year for this week to arrive. To me this is the "Super Bowl, World Series and the Stanley Cup" excitement...all in the hopes of seeing a good buck. This is when you need to spend your time in the woods. I was watching the weather and hoping it would get colder and help push the rut along. Well, i had one good day to hunt, because the weather was turning bad...RAIN, an archery hunters worst enemy. Wednesday was a beautiful day to call and rattle; just a wisp of a breeze. I made a mock scrape, placed some scent out and started to call and rattle. It was a perfect morning to call, but no luck; that evening was a different story. I made a few calls about 4:00 pm and rattled and grunted. Then i heard something walking....squirrel i thought, or could it be a buck? Yes it was a buck..a nice high racked 8 pointer coming to my calls. The buck stopped and raked a tree and made a scrap. He seemed interested and still heading my way.

He stopped about 20 yards and i made the shot, the rest is history...

Try calling to get that buck in close.

Junita River

I wanted to fish the Juniata River again and do a show about wading and fishing small rivers.
I googled the Juniata River and the search hit on a website"http://www.centralpafishing.com/."
This was what i was looking for...! What a fantastic site ! Check it out!
I made a phone call to Juan Vereute to book a fishing trip with him and discovered he worked for Penn State too. It wasn't long we were both talking fishing and Penn State.
We made arrangements to meet along the Juniata and both were hoping the fish would bite.
Well with his expertise and knowledge of the Juniata it didn't take long to catch fish.
We talked about fishing strategy and the lures we wanted to use. We both wanted some topwater action, but it was fall and the leaves were falling on the water snagging our treble hooks, thus killing the action of the lure. We adjusted and he threw a Yum Dinger and I a Berkley Jerk Shad. Make a long story short we caught a lot of fish; nice plump smallies.
The water was still a little warm for the big bite to happen but we caught some nice fish.
I have a fishing buddy for life, Juan Vereute.
Thanks Juan !
